…to the new-look website for DJ Kevin GODDEN.

“Digitall DJ” is no more, (although it does crop up in some addresses which cannot be changed) and I will be simply  known as GODDEN from here-on (it is my name after all)!

You will see lots of changes to the site; as well as the new look, there’s a new biography, a new page for Testimonials, and a gallery of pics. Follow the tabs at the top and have a look around.

Note that if you opted to follow me on Soundcloud and/or Mixcloud, your subscription will continue, despite the name change. The same goes for my Facebook Page. If you don’t follow me, then there are links to the right, and liking the Facebook page can be done in one click without even leaving the page! So, go on, show me some thumb!

This site will be updated constantly with gig news and new music, and I shall endeavor to post weekly, however brief.

Big news at the moment is that I will be playing at the epic Halloween Masked Ball on 27th Oct, along with some huge names (Mylo,Herve anyone?) and the best of local DJs. I can’t wait for this – I will post full set details as soon as I know.

Also, keep an eye on www.littlesouth.com, as I am delighted to say that I will soon be appearing as a featured DJ. There are only about 16 artists profiled on the site, who are considered to be the best in the South West. I am flattered to be invited, and this will involve  producing mixes for their podcast series which has a huge subscription. Again, I will post a link when it goes live.

If you want to get in touch with any observations or comments about the site or anything else for that matter, you can find contact details all over the site.

Right, that’s all for now – enjoy the new site! x

Good question, and one I will try to answer in this post! There’s quite a lot going on! –

Firstly, Razzmatazz has returmed with a vengeance and it’s back with it’s initial purpose – to offer an alternative clubbing option for the, how can I put it, more mature! Let’s face it, we 30-40-somethings are the original ravers – the real indie kids, and we still want to get out, have a drink, enjoy the music we love and have a dance. Just preferably not surrounded by people our kids age.

Hence Razzmztazz – book the babysitter and get down to the Studio on the first Thursday of the month.

A new event also at the Studio, but on the THIRD Thursday of the month (Keeping up?), is re:PLAY.

Anything goes – any generation, any genre – as long as you can dance to it!

Future nights will feature guest spots from some of the best local DJs.

But more importantly, slots also available for new DJs too..

If you are a budding DJ wanting to make that first public appearance, or a new DJ looking to gain experience, or even an established DJ wanting to try something new – we have the opportunity for you!

Come and play, have a drink and meet up with fellow DJs.

Contact us at replay@digitalldj.co.uk and book a slot at Re:PLAY.

Please specify what media you are DJing with, what genre you play and what kit you need us to provide.

Please note – slots must be pre-arranged in order to allow us to plan the evening, so please contact us via the above address to book in and avoid disappointment.

Re:PLAY will take place every 3rd Thursday 9pm-1am at The Studio Bar, Bread Street, Penzance

B-Side at Bunters is quite simply an indie/alternative WEEKLY club night that is punching well above it’s weight! The Best bands, the best venue, the best DJ (of course). Come over to the big city on a Friday and see for yourself. For all the latest line-up news etc – visit the facebook page.

That’s all the regular stuff I’m doing for now – and yes that does suggest there’s more to come – watch this space for big news soon!

I am struggling to post regularly enough to keep up with all the exciting things going on! Best bet is to keep a check on my gig guide page here, and come and join me on Facebook here

S’all for now x

Where does the time go….?

This post has been in draft for nearly a month! So just going to get it out quickly!
I can’t believe this is my first post of 2012 – I feel it’s too late to wish you happy new year, as most resolutions are now distant memories – so will crack on with updating you on the goings-on at Digitall HQ.

Just briefly looking back – NYE 2011 was a cracking evening: Firstly packing the dancefloor at SWAT NYE at the Sandsifter within 10 mins of the doors opening – big thanks to the guys at SWAT for the gig and big respect to the mad party-goers for being so up for it!
Secondly seeing the new year in at the Studio in Penzance – it was great fun playing party favourites for the friendly bunch there. Thanks to Alex for putting it together.

Well January was predictably a little quiet, but by now it has ramped back up to full-on busy!
I am really enjoying my residency at B-Side in Truro – the back of Bunters is transformed into an alt/indie club on Fridays, with live bands and an indie club with me until late. We’ve had some amazing bands on already this year, including Moonlet and the Lovemonks, Crowns and Max Raptor, with plenty more to come. Come along on Friday!

If Truro is too distant, I’m delighted to announce that you will be able to get your indie-fix in Penzance again, as Razzmatazz is returning to The Studio on Bread Street. Starting on March 1st, it’ll take place on the first Thursday of the month. Although essentially an indie disco night, there will be occasional live bands too.

I’m off tonight to pay at the closing party of the MOJO Music expo/festival in Falmouth – this is one gig I’m really looking forward to – I will report fully tomorrow, with a further post.

Big ‘whoop, whoop’ to the BrapFM crew. The station, on which I broadcast every other Tuesday 10pm – midnight, is in the shortlist for Radio Station of the Year at Breakspoll 2012 tonight – bring it home Mish!! Again, I’ll report back tomorrow.

But to get this published, I’m going to sign off now….

Just a quick request though, please ‘like’ my Facebook page (you can do it from this page, to the right), as it all helps to get gigs!!

New Year – New Music….

I have a couple of treats for you which I have recently put out.
The first is a pretty rough and ready (but great fun) mix which I’ve called Fast and Furious. This is on my Mixcloud page here.

The second is a pesky little mash-up of local casio-rappers Hedluv & Passman and 2011 hit-makers Rizzle Kicks! Sounds terrible but really works – have a listen! It can be found on the music page right here
It’s proving to be quite popular, and the track is free to download – but only upto 100, so go get it Dreckly!
Thanks to Hedluv & Passman for asking me to remix their signature tune, and sorry it’s taken so long. I still want to finish the glitchy electro remix I have started, but don’t hold me to that!
If you play the tune in your set, or you hear it played out, I’d love to know – drop me a quick email to dj@digitalldj.co.uk.

As always, I welcome your comments / feedback / constructive criticism, so please comment on the tracks or contact me direct.

Finally for 2011, a couple of requests!!
If you have enjoyed my sets at any of this year’s gigs, please hit ‘LIKE’ on my Facebook page

And if you have REALLY enjoyed any of my sets, you could always cast a vote in the Littlesouth DJ of the Year. Just follow this link and fill in the short form. I’m under no illusions of wining, but it/ would be great to clock a few votes to let everyone know I’m here!!

Many thanks – enjoy the tunes!! x

New Year News….

I hope you all had a festive time over the last week, and have thoroughly over-indulged in ever way!!
Of course, it’s not over yet! Yes, there’s still New Year’s Eve to enjoy / survive / endure (delete as applicable!).

The great news is I’ll be playing twice on NYE! (and maybe more if I make it to a party afterwards!!)

Firstly, I’ll be opening in the bar at The Sandsifter for the S.W.A.T. NYE Music Event. I’m delighted to be part of a bill boasting some of the best DJs around, including Freerange DJs, Luc Aceeater, Gavin Davey, Tom Laws and my Dubious friends from Falmouth.
3 areas – DJs / Live Acts – LED Dancefloor in the bar – great times guaranteed. By all accounts tickets are becoming scarce. Full details are on the event page – here

Following a 2 hour set at the S.W.A.T. event, I’ll be hot-footing it over to The Studio Bar Penzance, now relocated in Bread Street again, to see in the New Year with a selection of party tunes to welcome 2012 with a smile (and arms in the air!!). Join us there from approx 11pm through to the early hours.

Can’t wait already!!

Before any of that, I’ll be playing in my regular slot at B-Side @ Bunters, Truro tonight. The live action is provided by Fire Island Pines and the inimitable Hedluv & Passman (in something of a Razzmatazz reunion!!). It’s free, will be a great NYE warm up and above all will be great fun. See the next post for more H&P news!

It seems an appropriate time to thank everyone for your support in 2011 – a phenomenal year in the Digitall DJ camp, and wish all of you a very Happy New Year. I hope to see lots of you on the dancefloor in 2012.

Festive Fun…

Hello and festive greetings from DDJ HQ. This week is the busiest I’ve ever had, with Three consecutive gigs over the last weekend before Christrmas.

The beat frenzy starts on Thursday night, when I’ll be playing for lots of friends at their work’s Xmas Party. With a great live band, food, champers and all the best (non-cheesy) party tunes, should be a highlight of the Christmas season.

Friday I officially begin a stint as resident DJ at B-Side at Bunters in Truro. Really excited about this opportunity, as I get to play some of my all time favourite music in a re-vamped club setting, and alongside some of the best indie bands on the scene. This week sees Sandfire Siren (who I saw at Eden in the Summer and thought were great) followed by The Hit Ups . I’ll be providing the tunes before, between and after the bands. Razzmatazz fans will love this night, and I hope to see some of you there.

As if that wasn’t enough, Saturday id the BIG ONE, as Decadance goes large, with a Christmas mini-fest at Crasken Farm in Helston.

Live bands, 12 top local DJs covering every genre you could want, festive decor, firepit, bar, cafe…..for full details, see the event here;

Just telling you about the week has tired me out!

Check back soon for news of NYE 2011!!

No “Slow-Mo” start to winter…..

Greetings friends, new and old, and welcome to what is slipping into being an irregular look at all things Digitall!

If you are wondering what the funny black and white box is to the right here, it’s a cool way of getting hold of my details – just scan the box with your smartphone (barcode scanner app is free) and it will upload my contact details straight to your phone. Cool!

I haven’t the time, memory or online capacity to review everything that has passed since my last post – I’ll try to pick out the most pertinent:

Firstly, after a couple of really top fun nights at the Ritz in Penzance, Razzmatazz is going to take a break for the winter. It’s been a real blast over the last nine months, with some great bands playing and the sheer enjoyment of playing the music I love. Thanks to Alex and the Studio Bar, all the bands who played and above all, everyone who came to the party. Look out for Razzmatazz events in the spring.

“Step Back In Time” became “Decadance” and spawned one of the best dance nights I’ve ever played at when Nigel P and JP joined us at the Ritz- read on to find out where Decadance is going to take us next!!!

Always enjoy tsking the tunes to new places, so was delighted to be asked to play at Number 20 in Penryn this month. What a fantastically cool bar – check it out if you’re over that way, and look out for my return!!

Outside of DJing, I was lucky enough to join the Surgeons in the studio this month, to record my track, “Condemnation” with them to go on their forthcoming album “The Last Rights”. The whole experience was just brilliant, and the results sound great – the CD should be available very soon, and catch the boys(!) on Penwith Radio with me on December 8th.

I posted a new mix last week, check out “Off the Beaten Track (November mix)” on the Music page. I hope you agree it’s a beauty!!

So wasson for the rest of 2011? Where to start!

Firstly, I’m delighted to have been invited to be resident DJ for B-Side at Bunters, the weekly indie night in Truro. Attracting some of the best live acts both locally and nationally, this is a great night, and I’ll be bringing an indie-club element to proceedings from Friday 16th December. See the poster attached to see whats on there in December – it’s a great line-up.

The Decadance event to be held at the Ritz on Sat 10th December has been re-arranged.The BIG news is that Decadance will be hosting a cracking night at Crasken Farm nr Helston on the 17th December, 9pm-4am!! I’ll be there along with a host of talent. Details are being firmed up as I write, so can’t say much more at this point except…watch this space, or keep up with the latest developments on www.facebook.com/kevin.godden

Friends watch your inbox for revised birthday plans

Throw in a couple of Christmas parties, my iminent birthday, oh, and christmas too and it’s looking like being an epic month.

At least this damned irritating Moustache can go soon……!!

Well I never intended to go a month between posts, and in fact didn’t realise I had until now!!

Over the last month there have been many highlights again! The first Razzmatazz Indie Disco special, the first brilliant ‘Step Back In Time’ night, my first live broadcast from a beach!, and my first visit to BPM in Birmingham!

Regular visitors, and anyone who has seen/heard/failed to avoid me over the last few weeks will know that I had been selected to play on the Play@BPM stage at the massive BPM Show at Birmingham’s NEC. And so it was up the M5 for me for a full on weekend of music, old friends, music, curry, music and more tunes than you can shake a stick at!! Despite a mild attack of the terrors when faced by a couple of hundred expectant DJs, I loved playing at the show and, after a couple of strong coffees, really enjoyed the show too. Too difficult to pick highlights, but was great to meet DJ Tutor Jonathan Lewis, who has been a massive inspiration with his video tutorials. Also enjoyed DJ Delimentary’s amazing 4-deck mixing, DJ Switch and his amazing scratching, and watching  Kutski having fun on the stands. If you are into DJing, producing EDM or just love dance music, you’ve got to go to BPM!!!

Back here in Cornwall, last month saw the first of a new monthly night, ‘Step  Back In  Time‘, where guest DJs join me on the decks to spin some classic funk, soul, electro, house, in fact anything that will get you on the dancefloor. The first night was great fun, with Indian Billy playing in his unique style. This month we will be back at The Ritz next Saturday, the 15th, with a DJ Set from Sharp Clicks Records, and of course my good self!! Join us at the Ritz from 9pm.

Just time to thank everyone involved in the GyllyLive event on Gyllyngvase Beach over in Falmouth last weekend. I joined the SourceFM team to present a live broadcast direct from the beach. Unfortunately I couldn’t stay long, but had a great time while I was there.

A quick mention for Razzmatazz – this month on a SATURDAY – 29th October at the Ritz. Live guests TBC – keep an eye on Facebook and the Razzmatazz page here.

I’m sure there’s more to tell but thanks for reading, and I’ll not bore you any more. More soon though !!

Brap.FM hits Bristol…

Time for a new post – I know it’s been too long, but I actually mean I have time for a new post, so better crack on.

Things are moving at such a pace that most weekends are becoming something of a blur! At the end of August, Bank Holiday weekend was a particularly full few days.

Firstly Razzmatazz was another busy night – for the first time at it’s new home, The Ritz in Queen Street, Penzance. Falmouth Indie-epic-rock outfit Lonely Hunters  played a blinder. The next Razzmatazz is on Friday 23rd September. Watch out for details soon of this month’s live treat. To be sure to keep upto date with all things Razzmatazz, go to the Facebook page and click ‘Like’.

The following night  saw a packed Toast getting down to some serious electro-house and breaks – DDJ style! This night gets better and bigger every time, and I’ll be back monthly for the rest of the year – see the Gig Guide for details.

As if that wasn’t enough excitement for one weekend, Sunday was Party in the Park in the beautiful gardens of Trereife House in Penzance. I played all afternoon between the bands, and despite being cut short by a power failure had a great time. Keep an eye out for video footage of my appearance with The Surgeons too!

On Friday 9th September I hot-footed it out of the Duchy to join some of my fellow Brap.FM DJs for the inaugural BrapFM Social, at No 51 Stokes Croft in Bristol.Packing em in for Brap.FM

What a night this turned out to be. I had the honour of opening with a tight set of funky breaks, then the guys soon ramped up the BPM and the temperature, with some blinding sets of house, breaks, techno and Drum ‘n’ Bass. The bar was heaving with dancing bodies and the event has been declared a resounding success. The BrapFM Social will be at No 51 every 2nd Friday from now on.

One last thing I must tell you about; I’m delighted to have been asked to be the Resident DJ at a new monthly dance night at the Ritz in Penzance. The night, “Step Back In Time” will feature a guest DJ each month, playing classic dance tunes from the last 40 years! Think funk, soul, old-skool house and electro just to scratch the surface. The first event will see the legendary Indian Billy joining me in the booth to spin a selection of choice  choons . More on Facebook here.

I’m sure there’s more to tell, but I’m out of time for now. Looking forward, all roads lead to Birmingham NEC for the BPM Show – see the last post below for deets. Excited? Only a lot!!!

BPM Show – NEC Birmingham

Big news in the world of Digitall DJ – I’ve been selected to play a set at  this year’s BPM Show in Birmingham!

BPM is the world’s largest event dedicated to DJing, electronic music production and club culture. It is attended by DJs, producers, performers, promoters, venue owners/managers, equipment retailers/installers, record label representatives, students and many others who simply have an interest in DJing or electronic music.

I’ll be playing on the ‘Reloop Play@BPM Stage’ which is hosting a continuous line-up of sets from ‘up-and-coming DJ talent’ on Monday 3rd October.

Suffice to say, I’m very excited about this! If you’re planning to visit BPM, get in touch or come and say hello!
